6 Tips to Make Your Bathroom Feel Bigger

1. Paint a Light Colour on the Walls

Darker colours can make your bathroom look smaller than it is, which is why you will want to choose a light colour when painting your walls.

Your best option is to paint the ceiling and the walls the same colour, but you can also paint the ceiling white and the walls a lighter shade of another colour if you want to have a white ceiling and a different colour for the walls.

2. Install a Floating Vanity

Your current vanity might not be taking up a lot of space, but a floating vanity will make your bathroom look bigger by making the floor visible underneath.

When you see the floor, it creates the illusion that your bathroom is larger. There are many floating vanities available that have storage options, so you won’t need to make any sacrifices when it comes to that.

3. Add a Glass Shower Door

One of the best ways to make your bathroom look bigger is to replace your shower curtain with a glass shower door.

Your eyes will focus on the wall behind the glass, essentially tricking you into thinking that your bathroom is much bigger. Of course, not everyone likes to shower with clear glass doors, but you can get the same results if you install doors that have frosted or tinted glass.

4. Add a Mirror or Two

Mirrors will reflect the light inside your bathroom and make it feel more spacious.

If you currently have a small mirror over your vanity, you may want to consider removing it and replacing it with one that is the length of that wall to really open up this space.

5. Add a Pocket or Sliding Door

A pocket door or sliding door will not invade the room like a regular door does. After all, pocket doors and sliding doors are flush against the wall or inside the walls, so they don’t take up any space at all.

6. Install a Sky Light

Sky lights can bring extra natural light into your bathroom, which will really make it look bigger.

This is a great option if you do not have a window in your bathroom or if the window isn’t large enough to let massive amounts of natural light in.

These six tips will help you make your bathroom look and feel much bigger than it is now, and you may find that you have other options that will work well for you too.

At HK Kitchens and Bathrooms we have a wealth of information and knowledge to help you decide which options are best for you.
